It can be embarrassing to get a letter from your child’s school about a
head lice problem. Even worse is finding a louse roaming on their hair in the middle of a gathering.
Most people are afraid of an infestation because they think it is impossible to get rid of lice. It is difficult and requires a lot of time, but it isn’t impossible.
In fact, we have made it easier with the help of our experienced lice doctors.
It’s still a good idea to prevent an infestation from occurring. Here are a few tips to help you get started:
1. Learn, learn and learn
First step is to know that you and your kid can contract lice in a number of ways. Direct contact is just one possible way. Secondly, you should know what head lice look like. If you see something moving in someone’s hair, avoid close contact with them.
2. Be alert
Just because you didn’t find a louse or nit in your child’s hair for a month, doesn’t mean you can let your guard down. Make sure you check their hair properly and often. Check behind the ears and the neck region.
Also look for red spots and notice if your child scratches their head too often. These are the common symptoms at the beginning of infestation.
3. Don’t share personal belongings
Headwear, such as scarves and hair pins, can pass head lice easily. Combs and hair brushes can too. Lice can also crawl on other items such as bedding and towels.
Teach your child not to share these items at school. Also make sure your kid has their own sports gear.
4. Sterilize
As we mentioned earlier, lice can crawl on towels and bedding. Wash these items before using them again. Remember this the next time your kid invites their friends for a sleepover at your place.
5. Hire professional home inspection services
Did you see a head louse crawling on a pillow? You may have taken care of it, but what if there are others too? Being tiny, they can easily hide in small spaces and camouflage.
We offer a
home inspection service by our lice experts to rid your house of these parasites. Our service is discreet and quick. Call us today for complete
