Going to the movies to watch that new thriller everyone’s been raving about was definitely worth it! The cinematography, acting, script, and direction were all perfect.
There were more twists and turns than a rollercoaster ride. But these weren’t the only surprises awaiting you. There was something else in the theater, lurking in the dark, waiting for you to take a seat—
head lice.
The last thing you expected while hanging out with friends was to contract head lice. But that’s
exactly what happened.
But movie theaters are just some of the many places you should steer clear of if you don’t want to become the victim of the pesky critters!
With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the places lice like to hide:
Pillows and Blankets
Lice are the size of sesame seeds. This means that they’re small enough to hide inside blankets and pillows. There’s a common misconception that head lice can’t survive a day without human blood.
But these pesky critters can live up to three days without human blood. And since they can crawl really fast, it gives them plenty of time to hide and prey on their next victim.
The next time you book a hotel room, make sure to get the bedding and pillows changed. If you stay over at a friend’s or somewhere else while traveling, cover your head with a scarf so lice don’t have access to your hair.
School Playgrounds
Uh-oh! The last thing you’d expect is for your child to come home with a note from the school nurse, informing you they have lice.
Unfortunately, schools are a breeding ground for head lice. Lice don’t have a specific preference when it comes to age, but kids are vulnerable to infestations.
It’s easy for them to prey on kids during recess or lunch. Head-to-head contact is common during playtime and this makes it easy for these critters to find another victim.
Unnoticeable Spaces
Lice love to hide in small and unnoticeable places. From carpets to pockets in clothes, there are plenty of places for these critters to hide.
But that doesn’t mean there isn’t anything you can’t do about it!
We’ll make sure all of your blankets, carpets, pillows, and bedsheets are free of pesky parasites so you don’t have to worry about a re-infestation!
