The Aftermath — Preventing a Head Lice Re-Infestation
Head lice are a nuisance on their own, and the last thing you want after getting rid of them is to get them again! Because let’s get real, combing out the nits, applying effective lice treatments, and washing all your infested bedding wasn’t an easy job.
Some of the main reasons for your head lice re-infestation could be that you used an ineffective and lesser quality lice treatment, or that you came in direct head-to-head contact with someone who had head lice.
Below, we will discuss how you can prevent a head lice re-infestation:
Wash everything diligently
The first thing you need to do to prevent a head lice re-infestation is to machine wash and dry all clothing, bed linens, and other things that you wore when you had head lice. This also applies if someone else you know used these items. Use hot water and high heat your drying cycle. Moreover, soak any combs or brushes you may have used in hot water for at least 5 to 10 minutes. Vacuum all the flooring and furniture as well, which you or another infested person got into contact with, but make sure you don’t use any fumigant sprays as these can be extremely toxic for your skin.
